Play It Again, Sam
Jan. 30 - Feb. 16, 2014
Written by the comic genius, Woody Allen, Play It Again, Sam was first produced on Broadway in 1969. This is early Allen perfecting his iconic lead character, in this case a film critic named Allan Felix, a bookish, insecure man, who begins dating again following a divorce. And who helps Allan Felix in the process ... Humphrey Bogart with a fantastic bevy of beauties played out in hilarious fantasy sequences.
"Hilarious... a cheerful romp. Not only are Mr. Allen's jokes and their follow ups, asides and twists audaciously brilliant, but he has a great sense of character."
- The New York Times
"A funny, likable comedy that has a surprising amount of wistful appeal."

Woody Allen: A Documentary
Feb. 6 and 7 (shown in 2 90-minute parts) 7p
You’ve seen him tapping Humphrey Bogart for dating advice in Play It Again, Sam, (which we are presenting on our main stage Jan. 30-Feb. 16.) You’ve seen him wrapped in tin foil as a spaced out time traveler in Sleeper, dressed as a terrified sperm cell in Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* and pondering the nature of evil in Crimes and Misdemeanors. Now you can meet the real Woody Allen, thanks to this insightful acclaimed documentary by Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Robert Weide. Wiede gives us rare glimpses into his personal life and his creative process as a writer, director, actor, comedian and musician. Given unprecedented access, Weide examines the growth of this iconic film legend, from a teen writer to a scrappy stand-up comic to one of the most prolific and lauded filmmakers of our time.
