A Letter from Scott RC Levy, Producing Artistic Director
It’s our 25th season! Although theatre has been a major part of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center since its opening in 1936, it wasn’t until 1988 that a professional company began productions in the SaG¯aJi Theatre. And now, a quarter century later, I am excited for you to look through this brochure and learn about all we have planned for the 2012-2013 season.
I think you’ll find that my selections for our season are tantalizing and represent a diverse slate of excellent theatrical offerings. From American Musical Theatre’s crowning achievement (Gypsy) to the Colorado Premiere of one of the most awarded new plays of 2012 (Other Desert Cities - five Tony nominations & Pulitzer Prize Finalist), the year will be filled with beguiling and captivating theatre.
And that’s just the beginning. As you browse our website, take note of additional offerings and ways for you to get involved with us at the theatre and in the other activities the Performing Arts Department at the FAC presents throughout the year.
I hope that you will often consider making a day of it at our historic Fine Arts Center. You could take an early morning class at Bemis School of Art, grab lunch at the cafe, stroll through the Taylor Museum galleries, have a cocktail in the Deco Lounge, and then come into the theatre to enjoy a show. Talk about an immersion in the arts!
It’s been great to meet many of you during my first year here in the Springs, and I can’t wait to create more theatre for you to enjoy in the coming months and years.
I’ll meet you in the aisle!
Sincerely,
![]()
