Behind the Illustrations
To celebrate the announcement of the Fine Arts Center Theatre Company’s 2014-2015 season, we asked frequent performer Sammy Gleason to create the illustrations that are featured on the cover of this brochure and for each of our five mainstage productions. Sammy has graced our stage most recently in The Drowsy Chaperone and Other Desert Cities. He also appears in the WYNOT Radio Theatre productions throughout Colorado (he created that logo too!), including their now annual appearance in our second stage series. Sammy can frequently be found in our costume shop, where he is instrumental in helping to build many of the costumes you see on our stage. Sammy’s style of illustration is reminiscent of the work of Al Hirschfeld (1903-2003), who was known for his stylish caricatures in the New York Times over many decades portraying show-business personalities, with particular emphasis on the theatre. For Hirschfeld’s innovative and huge body of work, there is now a Broadway theatre that bears his name. Sammy’s original illustrations will be on display at the FAC through the summer, and will then be auctioned off at our annual Gala on September 13.

2014-2015 Theatre Season at the FAC

The award-winning Fine Arts Center Theatre Company produces an annual season of musicals, comedies and dramas. Plus, the FAC hosts film festivals, music, dance and more.

“The FAC proves that nobody, but nobody, does musicals like they do musicals to our south. Every show I’ve attended there in six years has been sold out in its now gorgeously refurbished, 400-seat SaGaJi Theatre. To anyone in Denver who wonders whether it’s worth the drivedon’t wonder.” – Denver Post
