Paint outdoors and learn basic color, value and composition through traditional techniques used in oil painting. Develop the skills necessary for interpreting what you see from life and the methods to simplify what you observe. Learn to paint quickly and loosely. Ages 16-Adult.
Plein Air at the Garden of the Gods

Four lovely mornings in the Colorado sunshine painting our beautiful Garden of the Gods! We will position ourselves at different vantage points in the park each day. After a short demonstration, you will be free to paint. The instructor will provide individualized instruction. First class will meet at the Garden of the Gods visitor center. Supply list. Vignettes in the Gallery

Draw small vignettes in the gallery, explore elements of composition and value with pencils, and develop them into small original drawings inspired by works in the 75th Anniversary exhibit. With special guest instructor Monica Petty Aiello. NASA spacecraft have explored our solar system and returned with amazing images revealing awe-inspiring new vistas. Be guided on a visual tour of the solar system and learn about the basic geology on distant worlds. Both planetary science and art-making will be explored in this course taught by contemporary, mixed-media artist Monica Petty Aiello, who will work individually with each student to develop creative ideas and techniques. Archie's daughter, Pat Musick, guides participants through the process to produce a small painting.
