An electrifying new comedy, this 2010 Pulitzer Finalist makes its Colorado Premiere at the Fine Arts Center this February.

At the twilight of the Victorian age, a new medical device is developed to calm women diagnosed with “hysteria.” As Dr. Givings pioneers this intimate new therapy, his young wife becomes determined to investigate the experiments that have patients leaving the procedure room with a rosy glow. Ruhl’s stylish comedy pulses and hums along as it dispels old-fashioned notions of female sexuality, intimacy and marriage at the dawn of the age of electricity.

In the Next Room, or the vibrator play is one of the most produced shows in the country this year. In fact, the Denver Post recently called the FAC’s production, “Title of the Season.”

"I’m thrilled that we are bringing Sarah Ruhl’s delicious, hysterical and deeply romantic play to Colorado," said Scott RC Levy, FAC’s Director of Performing Arts and Producing Artistic Director of the Theatre Company. "The team we have assembled to bring this Victorian world to detailed life is, like the play itself, exquisite."

The cast includes Stephanie Philo (Mrs. Givings), Chad Siebert (Mr. Givings), Tracy Liz Miller (Mrs. Daldry), Tom Auclair (Mr. Daldry), Amy Brooks (Annie), Marisa Hebert (Elizabeth), and Max Ferguson (Leo) with Joye Cook-Levy making her FAC directorial debut.
