Pard Morrison is a Colorado Springs artist who, with recent significant exhibitions, has crossed over from emerging artist into the career of an established artist. His 2007 exhibition at RULE Gallery in Denver drew strong reviews in the Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News, and Westword, and his show at LewAllen Contemporary in Santa Fe was recognized in Art News.
The Cape in My Closet is the kind of work that will carry him to the future – a smart and beautiful combination of image and idea – this is the work of a mature artist with a long career. Its horizontal orientation and vertical bars of color recall aspects of the landscape, while the title refers to the secret life of a superhero or perhaps something more sinister. Morrison will become one of our region’s most important artists.
