Folding Chair Lecture for Members
Bold and Beautiful: The Art of Fernando Botero
June 27 | 1:30 p.m. | $5 for FAC Members
FAC Curator of Latin American Art Tariana Navas-Nieves will give a special exhibition tour focusing on the wide range of works by international artist Fernando Botero. From dramatic works honoring European masters to stunning paintings focused on religious themes and bronze sculptures of sensuous figures, the work of Botero is deeply rooted in his Colombian heritage. Class meets in the Fine Arts Center Screening Room.
Family activities
Family Adventure Day
May 23 | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Paint your own version of a big, bountiful, beautiful tropical fruit bowl. Design a Botero-esque puppet. Create a small Botero-styled sculpture. Make a sombrero vueltiao, the traditional Colombian hat. Paint your face like a Botero portrait!

Gallery Treks – family gallery walks
June 13 & August 8 | Journeys begins at 11 a.m.
In this program specially designed for young visitors – 6-10 years old and their adult companions – we’ll look, listen, and share ideas as we explore The Baroque World of Fernando Botero. Interactive gallery activities and discussions give everyone the chance to participate.
Free for FAC Members | $2.50 for non-member kids 6-10 | $7.50 for non-member adults

Learn about Botero and explore drawing, painting and collage, creating stylized works that exaggerate and simplify. Visits to The Baroque World of Fernando Botero will be included for inspiration. A great mixed-media class for young artists!

Afternoons with Botero | 6–10 yrs
June 5, June 26, July 10, July 24 | 1 – 3 p.m.
Explore The Baroque World of Fernando Botero, discussing and sketching the works. After sketching in the galleries, venture back to the Bemis studio to create art inspired by the works of Botero using pastels, paints or collage. Art supplies are included and each session will be different.
FAC Members: $12 | Non-members: $17 | Registration required for each
