Art of the Southwest
1840s to Present
The art works presented in three galleries highlight some of the most celebrated work by indigenous and Latina/o artists in the FAC’s permanent collection. Within an overall chronological flow, the galleries focus on three periods of time spanning over 150 years: mid-19th century, 1930s, and late 20th century to the present. This exhibition explores individual stylistic movements, artists, and topics such as colonial encounters, art markets, and creative innovation, among other subjects. Art works in these galleries will be periodically rotated in an effort to feature a wide range of artworks from the FAC’s extensive collection.
