About Bemis School of Art
Who We Are
Bemis School of Art is a year-round facility at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, dedicated to arts education for all ages. Experienced artists and art instructors, large studios and limited class size create a motivational and supportive environment in which each student may explore his or her creative potential.
What We Offer
Bemis School of Arts offers courses for all ages and skill levels, including drawing, watercolor, acrylic and oil painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, mosaics, jewelry making, art history, photography, and drama. New semesters begin each January, June and September; FAC members receive early registration privileges and $15 off each class.
As part of the 2007 renovation and expansion of the Fine Arts Center, Bemis added seven new art studios, and a parking lot for students. The expanded museum offers students world-class permanent and special exhibitions from which to draw knowledge and inspiration.
Our History
Built upon the foundation of the prestigious Broadmoor Art Academy, which was established in 1919, Bemis School of Art has since inspired and instructed thousands of aspiring artists. The school was incorporated into John Gaw Meem’s Art Deco-inspired Fine Arts Center in 1936 and later housed in its own adjacent facility.
